Perfectly shaped Americana music can be found on the newest album of Luna
a Kentucky raised Signer-songwriter. The many different influences on
this album comes from her husband David Prince (Seventies Rock) and
good friend Rob McNurlin (folk) who both equally affected her taste of
music. The result is a nice mix of music that is best described as
modern day Americana. However the music of Luna is seldom put in a box
as is her interest in styles and genres! Known for recording some
Kentucky old time classics for “Something
in the Water” a
stage production featuring old-time music, Luna is always on the verge
to sing an record the music she likes.
From
opener “I don’t Care” over “Run For the Corn Virgie” towards “Out in
the cold” the first three songs on the album, Blaine
Girl
really kicks in as a hot platter full of spicy food. But it doesn’t
stop here! Tunes like “What For ?” , “Pepsi Girl” or “Sunset Rising”
are really worth your time and special notifications go out to songs
like “Honey”, that throws in some southern Rock influences and “Church”
which is a true neo-rockabilly tune. However it is the moderate
“Absconder” that does the trick for me. The tune starts quite gently
with a flair of Stevie Nicks and burble on for about three and halve
minutes. It is here that you know that Luna is not an artist like any
other singer-songwriter but comes with a lot of professionalism and
shows the world that she can take here place amongst many others.
Take
a listen to her album or go seeking the lady out on www.LunaRocks.com
and convince yourself of her qualities.
